Exploring the Power of BitVM Bitlayer

When I first heard about Bitlayer, it felt like stumbling into a secret lab of Bitcoin innovation. It turns out Bitlayer is the first Layer 2 Bitcoin built on the new BitVM paradigm.

I was impressed that it offers Bitcoin-equivalent security and full Turing intelligence. In practice, Bitlayer keeps Bitcoin as the foundation of trust by verifying off-chain computations using BitVM fraud proofs, making transactions extremely fast and cheap.

On the asset side, the Bitlayer bridge uses Bitcoin's Discreet Log Contracts (DLC), so when I moved some testnet BTC, no party controlled my funds.

On a lazy Sunday, I even minted small wrapped Bitcoin (YBTC.B) through the official Bitlayer bridge and then interacted with smart contracts on its testnet; everything felt instant and almost free. I also learned that Bitlayer plans to support several virtual machines – starting with Ethereum's EVM (so I can easily move existing Solidity dApps) and eventually adding CairoVM, SolVM, MoveVM, and others.

My small experiment convinced me: Bitlayer truly brings Bitcoin's robust security into a new era of fast and programmable DeFi on Bitcoin.
