Fogo is a Layer 1 blockchain built on the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM), but with very significant improvements in speed and efficiency. What distinguishes it is the use of the Firedancer client, which allows it to achieve very low latency (around 40 milliseconds per block), almost instantaneous finality, and high transaction capacity (TPS can reach hundreds of thousands). This makes it ideal for high-frequency trading and DeFi that require speed similar to centralized platforms, but in a fully decentralized manner.
Additionally, it has an enshrined DEX integrated, and protection against MEV (Maximal Extractable Value) to maintain value within the network, along with a new liquid staking model that benefits small investors. The team has a background in trading from Wall Street (like Citadel), so the focus on institutions and professional traders is clear.
The current price is around $0.023, and the market cap is under 100 million – which means it's still in the early stages with a lot of potential for growth if it attracts more liquidity. Personally, I see $FOGO as a strong contender against Solana in the near future, especially with the mainnet they've recently launched.
