Although the Cashea platform issued an official statement assuring that passwords are safe and that the application remains operational, the technical reality of this recent data breach is much more serious than it appears at first glance.
It's not just about passwords; it's about your financial privacy.
🔍 What was really leaked?
Even if your access key has not been stolen, the exposed data reveals the "map" of how Cashea works and, most critically, how it is used by Venezuelans. This is what is in the hands of third parties:
• 🛒 Your purchase history: 79 million transactions were leaked. This means that an outsider can know exactly what you bought, when you did it, and where.
• 📊 Your financial profile: The leak details spending habits and credit limits of users to the millimeter. Basically, it publicly exposes how much purchasing power you have.
• 🏪 Business data: The business sector is also a victim. Confidential information from more than 15,000 companies and 29 million records of partner stores was affected.
⚠️ Why is it extremely dangerous for you?
The critical aspect of this situation is not the access to the account itself, but the total loss of privacy. With this database, any attacker can know exactly what level of income you manage and what your vulnerabilities are.
This opens the door to severe risks such as:
1. Spear Phishing: Scammers can send you hyper-personalized emails or SMS (e.g., "We see you bought X product at Y store, click here to confirm your payment"), tricking you into stealing banking credentials or passwords from exchanges like Binance.
2. Social Engineering: By knowing your financial capacity, you become an easy target for scams or extortion.
🛡️ What to do now?
• Be wary of any unsolicited messages: If you receive emails, WhatsApp messages, or SMS supposedly from Cashea or stores where you purchased, do not click on any link.
• Monitor your accounts: Keep an eye on your banking transactions and change passwords if you used the same one as Cashea on other services.
• Do not mix information: Never share your Binance data or other financial wallets with supposed support agents who contact you "due to the leak."
The security of your data is your most valuable asset in the digital world. Stay alert!
