Bitcoin Holds Strong 💎 – $116K Level Tested Ahead of Fed Call

Bitcoin price trades over $116,000 barrier, suggesting a positive run to $120,000.

BTC may be volatile once the Fed cuts rates.
Despite positive momentum, on-chain statistics suggest differing trader opinion.

Bitcoin (BTC) remained stable over $116,000 on Wednesday, with traders expecting further volatility after the Federal Reserve (Fed) rate decrease later today. A breakthrough toward $120,000 is still possible, but on-chain data reveals inconsistent cryptocurrency market mood, raising the probability of a sell-the-news response.

Bitcoin may fluctuate after the Fed rate decision.
The European session on Wednesday saw bitcoin trade over $116,000, down marginally. After three weeks of increases, BTC closed over $116,700 on Tuesday from its September 1 low of $107,255.

Market pricing shows three cuts in 2025 and three in 2026. Changes in these expectations and Powell's press conference will reveal the Fed's near-term policy direction.

"If the Fed matches this expectation ('Goldilocks' balance), financial conditions will remain supportive for risk assets, such as stocks and crypto," QCP said.

The analysis finds that until momentum improves, the crypto market may not rise as much as stocks.

Bitcoin volatility is low before the Fed storm.
Bitcoin's 7-day volatility touched record lows around 0.7% on Tuesday before inching upward as BTC went above $115,000.

As exchange deposits fall, bitcoin selling pressure remains mild before the Fed's interest rate announcement. The figure below reveals that Bitcoin streaming into exchanges has dropped to 25,000 BTC, one of the lowest levels in almost a year, from 51,000 BTC on July 17, when Bitcoin was trading near $120,000 for the first time.

April 6 net USDT deposits were $273 million; August 31 was $379 million, the highest this year. The average daily deposit has climbed from $63,000 in July to $130,000 on Tuesday, driving USDT into exchanges.
