🚨 BREAKING:
Aluminium Bahrain, known as ALBA and the world’s largest single-site aluminum smelter, has reportedly suspended around 19% of its production capacity.
The plant is still making metal, but a big problem remains. The material is now stuck inside the country because shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has been disrupted.
This is a major blow to the global aluminum market.
The Middle East supplies a meaningful share of the world’s aluminum.
More than 5 million tons of metal are now reportedly trapped behind the disruption.
As a result, aluminum prices have jumped to their highest level in around four years.
