Israel and the United States have struck a number of nuclear facilities in Iran, including the complex in Khondab (Arak), where a heavy water reactor and a heavy water production plant are located.

The Israeli army's statement notes that heavy water produced in Arak could potentially be used to obtain weapons-grade plutonium, as well as a source of neutrons for creating nuclear weapons. It is emphasized that the reactor itself, capable of producing plutonium, is currently not functioning within the framework of the agreements reached under the 2015 nuclear deal.

Iranian authorities reported that there were no casualties as a result of the attacks on Hondab, and there are no threats to the civilian population.

In addition, a plant for the production of uranium concentrate in Yazd province was hit. The Israeli army emphasized its strategic significance, calling the enterprise unique. According to their data, it is at this site that the raw material undergoes mechanical and chemical processing necessary for further uranium enrichment, which is a key stage in the nuclear program.

The Iranian Fars agency also confirmed the fact of the attack, adding that no radioactive contamination was recorded.
