The conflict over Iran is approaching a critical point that could provoke a global energy crisis. A month after the start of military actions involving Israel and the USA, Tehran's allies — the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement — began to intervene in the situation.
At this stage, their actions are limited: missile strikes were launched towards Israel, which are seen as warning shots. However, experts warn that the group is capable of escalating to more serious attacks at any moment, including strikes on Saudi Arabia's oil infrastructure in the Red Sea.
The situation escalated after Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz — a key artery of global energy resource supplies, through which about a quarter of the world's oil and a fifth of gas previously passed. In response, Saudi Arabia redirected a significant portion of its exports via an alternative route to the Yanbu al-Bahr terminal on the Red Sea coast.
Thanks to this step, it was possible to partially curb the rise in global oil prices. Before the conflict, the kingdom exported about 6 million barrels of oil per day through the Strait of Hormuz, but now supplies approximately 5 million barrels via a new route.
The main volumes of oil are directed to Asian countries through the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait — another strategically important hub that has been blocked by the Houthis in recent years.
For a long time after the conflict began, the Yemeni group showed no activity; however, the situation changed over the past weekend: missile launches were recorded, and representatives of the movement stated their readiness to continue attacks until the war with Iran is concluded.
Analysts note that such a development was expected. According to their estimates, the Houthis are acting autonomously and making decisions independently of Tehran. Earlier, expert April Ellie from the Washington Institute warned that the group is likely to start with strikes against Israel, after which it may proceed to further escalation of the conflict.
As for the crypto market, the main coins $BTC $ETH and the market as a whole are currently reacting negatively. This week, Bitcoin once again hit its minimum. Many experts believe that now is the right time to buy assets, but many are also waiting for further declines.
