Starknet is a decentralized Layer-2 (L2) Validity Rollup network (often referred to as ZK-Rollup) built on the foundation of Ethereum. Its goal is to drastically increase transaction throughput and reduce gas costs while maintaining full security of the first layer (L1). Starknet uses revolutionary STARK technology to generate cryptographic proofs, making it one of the most promising solutions in the Web3 ecosystem.
Technology: Utilizes STARK proofs (Scalable, Transparent Argument of Knowledge), which are faster and more scalable than common SNARK.
Cairo Language: Starknet uses its own programming language, Cairo, designed specifically for optimizing STARK proofs.
Tokenomics: The token $STRK is used for paying transaction fees (in the near future), staking to secure the network, and governance.

In my opinion, Starknet is the technological "dark horse" of the L2 race. I believe that STARK proofs are the future. Starknet does not take shortcuts – they are building a foundation for applications that in 5-10 years will serve millions of people without burdening the Ethereum network. Despite its powerful technology, Starknet still has to fight quite hard for liquidity and users, who are currently attracted to cheaper and simpler networks.
Did you know that?
Unlike Optimistic Rollups, Starknet does not require a "challenge period" for withdrawals. Transactions are finalized on L1 as soon as their validity proof is accepted by the Ethereum smart contract.
Question to the community: What do you think, will Starknet dominate the L2 market with its STARK technology, or will other solutions prove to be more adoptive?
