The Artemis mission was the first in over 50 years aimed at reaching the Moon

Members of the Orion spacecraft crew for the Artemis II mission shared that they saw the far side of the Moon for the first time. The crew includes NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, as well as Jeremy Hansen.

«Last night we saw the far side of the Moon for the first time, and it was simply amazing. I think one of the interesting features of the Moon is that it looks different. This is something we have never seen before,» said Christina Koch. Her words are reported by the BBC. The far side of the Moon remains poorly studied, and the opportunity to see it with our own eyes was a true revelation for the crew.

Earlier, as reported by the publication 360, NASA launched the crewed spacecraft Orion towards the Moon. The duration of the flight will be approximately 10 days. The spacecraft will fly around the Earth's satellite and return to base without landing. This flight was the first crewed flight by the USA beyond low Earth orbit in the last 53 years.
