Iraqi group says US journalist Kittleson to be freed ‘on condition she leaves country’

We now have more information on Kataib Hezbollah’s statement that it will release kidnapped US journalist Shelly Kittleson.

In a statement, Abu Mujahid al-Assaf, a security official in the Iraqi armed group, said: “In recognition of the national stances of the outgoing prime minister, we have decided to release the American defendant Shelly Kittleson, on the condition that she leaves the country immediately.”

There was no immediate statement on the news from Iraq’s government, which previously said authorities at the highest level were searching for the journalist
