One day a trader 🧑💼 came to a small village 🏡 and announced:
> "I will give 10 rupees 💵 for every monkey 🐒."
The villagers 👨🌾👩🌾 immediately ran towards the forest 🌳 and started catching and selling many monkeys 🐵.
A few days later ⏳ the monkeys became fewer 😬, so the trader said:
> "Now I will give 20 rupees 💰 for every monkey!"
People started working even harder 💪😤, and more monkeys were caught 🐒🐒.
Then the monkeys were almost finished 🫢🌿.
The trader raised the price 📈:
> "I will give 50 rupees for each monkey!" 😲🔥
But now the monkeys were hard to find 🙈.
One day, the trader went to the city 🏙️ and left his assistant 🧑💼 in the village.
He secretly told the villagers 🤫:
> "All these monkeys are trapped in cages 🪤... I will sell you each for 35 rupees, when my boss returns, you can sell them for 50 rupees and make a profit 💸💸."
Greed 💰 took over the villagers, and they bought all the monkeys 🙊🙉🙈.
But the trader and his assistant disappeared 🏃♂️💨.
Only the villagers remained... who had only cages full of monkeys 🐒🐒🐒.
