Vance reveals a "misunderstanding" between Iran and the U.S. regarding the ceasefire
The U.S. vice president detailed that, from the beginning, it was agreed that the ceasefire "would focus on Iran and the allies of the United States".

"The Iranians thought that the ceasefire included Lebanon, but that is not the case. The Israelis have offered to act with moderation in Lebanon and are trying to pave the way for negotiations with Iran to be successful," the U.S. vice president told the press.
In this regard, he detailed that, from the beginning, it was agreed that the ceasefire "would focus on Iran and the allies of the United States," describing the situation as "a legitimate misunderstanding." "Neither we nor the Israelis said that Lebanon was going to be part of the ceasefire," he insisted.
Moreover, he pointed out that "if Iran wants negotiations to fail because of Lebanon, ultimately it is their decision," however, he warned that if the Persian country "breaks the agreement, it will suffer serious consequences".
On the other hand, Vance stated that the Iranians "must sit at the table sincerely," adding, "the more Iran wants to offer us, the more it will gain from the negotiations".
The United States and Iran agreed this Tuesday to a two-week ceasefire after more than a month of hostilities. Washington indicated that it had received a 10-point proposal from Tehran, which it considered "a viable basis" for negotiation. The Iranian National Security Council, in turn, declared that the U.S. "has been forced to accept" that proposal. This Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they launched the largest coordinated attack across Lebanon since the beginning of Operation Rugged Lion. According to Lebanese authorities, the offensive resulted in hundreds of dead and wounded.
