Iran has again closed the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday after the Israeli military carried out a series of attacks in Lebanon targeting Hezbollah forces.

According to the maritime tracking service MarineTraffic, there are still two oil tankers passing through this area — a shipping route that accounts for about 20% of the global oil supply. Those two ships are NJ Earth (owned by Greece) and Daytona Beach (flying the flag of Liberia), which are also the first vessels to pass through the strait since the temporary ceasefire between the US and Iran was announced.

The closure of the strait comes as the Israeli Defense Forces carry out airstrikes in Lebanon on the same day, leaving hundreds injured, according to the country's Ministry of Health.

When asked about reports of Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz from Fars News Agency, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that this is "unacceptable."
