HKMA is set to announce the first batch of stablecoin issuer licenses at 5 PM today, with 2 to 3 licenses expected. Relevant licensed institutions will attend a media briefing after the announcement. HKMA reportedly completed the first review in mid-March 2026 after receiving 36 applications. Eddie Yue previously said the licensing process would follow a prudent approach and keep approvals relatively limited.
