On April 8, 2026, a two-week ceasefire was announced between America and Iran through Pakistan's mediation (Wikipedia) โ this was the war that began on February 28 with US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran, in which Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was also killed (Wikipedia).

On April 11, US Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner arrived in Islamabad โ to speak directly with the Iranian delegation (Al Jazeera).
The world's eyes were on Pakistan. But...
โ HAVE TALKS FAILED?
After 21+ hours of talks, the Islamabad discussions ended without any agreement. (Time)
VP Vance said: "Iran has rejected our terms." (Time)
Iran presented its 10-point plan which included these demands:
end of sanctions, return of Iranian assets, control over the Strait of Hormuz, right to uranium enrichment, and end of Israeli attacks in Lebanon. (Time)
