A recent study by the European Central Bank shows very specific profiles of crypto users in the euro area.

→ The facts :
• about 9–10% of Europeans hold cryptos
• the majority hold small amounts (<1,000€ for more than half)
• very few have significant positions

→ Typical profile :
• rather young, male, educated
• higher adoption at the extremes of income (low and high income)

→ Usage :
• mainly speculative investment
• limited use as a means of payment

→ What it means :
• real adoption… but still low on the scale of the financial system
• limited risk today, but growing
