I’ve been watching Pixels for a last night now because it’s everywhere, and I wanted to figure out if it’s actually something meaningful or just another wave of hype.
Now it’s clearly evolving into something bigger. It’s not just “play to earn” it’s ownership. Land, items, resources… they actually belong to you. That changes the mindset completely. You’re not just playing, you’re building something that has value outside the game.
And the best part? It doesn’t feel pay to win. You’re not locked out because you didn’t spend money. Skill, consistency, and strategy still matter.
On paper, it sounds like a smarter approach.
But I still have doubts. A big one is whether other game developers would actually want to rely on their tech. There’s definitely an ego and competition factor there. It’s hard to tell if this is a genuinely strong strategy or if they’re stretching because maintaining a game long term is so difficult.
If you’re into creative, rewarding games, I’d say keep an eye on Pixels. It feels early… but in a way that might not stay that way for long.
