The Ethereum Foundation launched a $1M Audit Subsidy Program on April 14 to help builders offset the high cost of smart contract security audits โ part of its broader "Trillion Dollar Security" initiative. **๐ฐ What's the deal?**
Selected teams can receive funding covering up to 30% of total audit costs. Higher support is available for certain projects on a case-by-case basis. **๐ข Who's involved?**
The program was launched in partnership with digital asset advisory firm Areta, which connects builders with vetted security firms. More than 20 audit firms are participating, including Blocksec, Hacken, Quantstamp, and Immunefi. New cohorts are chosen every month by an expert committee that includes teams from Chainlink and Nethermind.
**๐ How to apply?**
Applications are submitted through a form on Areta Market. An expert committee reviews each submission for technical merit, feasibility, and commitment to building on Ethereum. Approved applicants receive the subsidy automatically through the platform, then request quotes from participating firms. No fixed deadline โ subsidies are distributed on a first-come basis until the $1M pool runs out.
