Opus 4.7 vs 4.6: No meaningful performance gains detected. The "xhigh" tier is completely unnecessary - tier 4 already maxes out the useful capability ceiling. Worse, users had to endure a noticeable quality degradation period during the rollout. Anthropic's deployment strategy here is questionable. Either their A/B testing framework is broken, or they're pushing incremental versions without proper validation. This reeks of version number inflation without actual architectural improvements.
