IMO Secretary-General Dominguez said around 20,000 sailors and more than 2,000 ships are stranded in the Persian Gulf. Dominguez urged nations to intensify diplomatic efforts to support evacuation plans for crew members. Dominguez also said shipping in the Strait of Hormuz should resume after mines and other hazards are removed and insurers can offer reasonably priced coverage.
