The Reward Paradox: Why GameFi Fades đ
GameFi doesnât crash. It fades.
Weâre told: More Rewards = More Growth.
But that logic breaks.
Reward-heavy systems donât scale, they inflate.
Tokens flow out faster than theyâre used. Value gets diluted.
And behavior shifts:
đ Play â Earn â Exit.
The game stops being the reason people stay; the asset becomes the only reason they show up.
If price holds, activity stays.
If price drops, engagement vanishes.
Hereâs the uncomfortable part:
Most players were never there to play, they were there to exit.
This isnât a funding issue, itâs a design flaw. When incentives reward extraction over experience, players optimize for leaving.
So what are we really building?
Games where rewards support the world⌠or systems where the âgameâ exists only to justify the token?
If rewards vanished tomorrow, would your game still have players? đ
