Conservative commentator Nick Sortor claims he persuaded two NYPD officers to apply for transfer to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) during street conversations in New York City.
Sortor says the discussions lasted over an hour each and that he has connected the officers with ICE/HSI leadership. He indicated he will publicly identify the officers once their transfers are finalized.
The claim comes amid ongoing tension between New York City's sanctuary policies and federal immigration enforcement. NYPD officers are currently restricted from cooperating with ICE under local law. Any such transfers would require the officers to leave the NYPD and join federal service.
