I wrote about this event in the last 5 days. I said that 89 million tokens entering circulation on April 19 could bring sell pressure. It wasn't a genius prediction — it was written in the calendar of any trader following $PIXEL.

And yet it is instructive to look at how it unfolded concretely.

What the chart shows now

The price fell to 0.007369 on 4H with -11.44%. From the recent high of 0.009344 a few days ago, we are now almost 21% lower. The DN Bollinger on 4H is at 0.007365 — practically exactly where it is being traded now. The day's low reached 0.007276.

RSI6 is at 23. RSI14 at 37. RSI24 at 44. when RSI6 goes below 25, it is a classic signal of being oversold in the short term — meaning the market probably sold more than the fundamentals justify at that moment. it is not a guaranteed buy signal but a signal that aggressive selling is slowing down.

MA5 at 191 million is now much below MA10 at 365 million — confirming that selling volume has dominated the last days.

why does this happen at every unlock

mechanics are simple and repeat for almost any token with a vesting schedule. those who receive unlocked tokens usually have an average purchase price much lower than the current price — or even zero in the case of ecosystem rewards. for them, any price is profit.

not everyone sells immediately. but enough do to create visible selling pressure on the chart. and traders who know an unlock is coming sell too to avoid getting caught in the dump. and thus the dump feeds on itself — anticipated sales accelerate the downward movement which confirms the fears of others who sell too.

it is a cycle I have seen repeated dozens of times in crypto. it is not specific to $PIXEL. it is specific to any token with scheduled unlocks and a small market cap.

what does today's insight say about the project's direction

beyond the price movement, I saw something in today's data that caught my attention — Pixels is announcing a transition to a model called Fun First and Play-to-Own. moving away from traditional Play-to-Earn.

the difference is important. Play-to-Earn means you play to earn tokens that you sell. it is a model that works as long as the token price rises and implodes when the price falls because player motivation disappears along with profit. Play-to-Own means you play to own real digital assets in the game — land, pets, items — and the token is the means to access these assets, not the end goal itself.

there is also the introduction of vPIXEL — a staked version of the token that discourages immediate selling through liquidity withdrawal fees. the idea is to keep the tokens in the ecosystem longer, thus reducing chronic selling pressure.

I believe the direction is correct. but implementation matters greatly. if vPIXEL becomes perceived as a penalty instead of a benefit, players will react negatively. if presented as an advantage for loyal holders, it may work.

the history of previous unlocks at $PIXEL

I found an interesting piece of information — the history of Pixels showed low volatility in the 7 days after previous unlocks. meaning although the immediate dump is visible, recovery came relatively quickly in the past.

this does not guarantee the same behavior now. the market context is different from previous unlocks — we are in a period of macro uncertainty and the GameFi sector continues to underperform. but it is a relevant detail that tempers the panic.

what I am doing now

honestly, I am waiting. the 0.0070-0.0073 zone seems interesting for gradual accumulation if you believe in the project in the long term. RSI6 at 23 suggests that aggressive selling is slowing down but this does not mean it cannot continue for another day or two.

I never go all-in during an active dump moment. I wait for stabilization — two or three consecutive candles without new lows — before considering that the pressure has dissipated.

tomorrow I will write about daily active users as a fundamental metric — why 1 million daily active players means more for the long-term value of $PIXEL than any price movement from this week.

the unlock has hit. the market has reacted. now the question is — how quickly does it recover and what remains after the dust settles?
