U.S. military forces have seized an Iranian cargo ship attempting to breach America's naval blockade, President Trump announced.

The USS Spruance, a guided missile destroyer, intercepted the vessel TOUSKA in the Gulf of Oman. After the Iranian crew ignored warnings to stop, the Navy disabled the ship by firing on its engine room.

U.S. Marines have taken custody of the vessel. The incident marks an escalation in enforcement of the blockade, which Trump had previously warned would be strictly maintained.
