Aave saw about $300 million in new borrowing against USDT deposits in the first 24 hours after the KelpDAO exploit, according to Chaos Labs data. The surge reflected trapped liquidity rather than new demand as USDT and USDC pools hit 100% utilization, leaving some users to exit through other markets at a 10–25% loss. On April 18, an attacker manipulated KelpDAO's bridge to release 116,500 unbacked rsETH worth about $292 million, and Aave froze rsETH markets on V3 and V4 within hours.
