Telegram is turning into a full-fledged application development platform — the relevant tools were found in the official test build of the messenger on April 18, 2026.

Bot Cloud IDE: development directly in the messenger

Inside Telegram, a mini-application called Bot Cloud IDE has appeared. It turns the messenger into a serverless environment for creating and deploying bots — without external servers, VPS, and traditional hosting. Developers will be able to write code in JavaScript directly in Telegram, test it in a live sandbox with an editor and JSON output, and then instantly deploy it on the infrastructure of the messenger itself.

Infrastructure changes affect several levels:

  • the built-in Telegram SDK replaces third-party frameworks;

  • each bot is allocated an isolated SQL database with a query builder;

  • code execution happens serverless with automatic injection of user context through MiniApp authorization.

Essentially, bots and Mini Apps are becoming native applications within Telegram with access to computation, storage, and APIs. They will be able to store data, 'remember' users, and maintain statistics — just like full-fledged applications from the App Store or Google Play.

Authorization through Telegram: a new standard

At the same time, the authorization system has been updated. The official Telegram documentation describes a new Login based on OpenID Connect. Developers will have the opportunity to add a 'Log in with Telegram' button not only on websites but also in native applications for iOS and Android — through ready-made SDK.

The function supports requesting the user's phone number (scope phone), obtaining permission to send messages by the bot, as well as working with Client ID and Secret via @BotFather. The documentation confirms support for scopes (openid, profile, phone, telegram:bot_access), PKCE, and validation of ID tokens. The mechanism works on the same logic as 'Sign in with Google' or Apple — but entirely through the Telegram account.
