DO YOU KNOW THE COBRA EFFECT?

This term originated in New Delhi when it was governed by the British, as the streets were infested with cobras 🐍🐍🐍
Then the government started paying for the cobras that were killed, so far so good, but someone came up with the idea of breeding the cobras and selling them, and thus all those who hunted them started doing the same.
The government realized this and canceled the program, and as the cobras were no longer worth anything, the cobra hunters released them into the streets, multiplying the problem much more than before.
This is called the cobra effect; it is when you try to fix a problem but end up multiplying it.
The cobra effect is a socioeconomic phenomenon where a solution designed to solve a problem ends up worsening it due to perverse incentives. Originating when the reward for killing cobras in British India led to breeding them, it exemplifies how unforeseen consequences outweigh the initial intention, a concept popularized by economist Horst Siebert.
Meaning: It is used to describe the creation of incentives that, instead of solving a problem, encourage behaviors that exacerbate it, termed by economists as an "unintended consequence."
Notable examples of the Cobra Effect:
The original case (India): The British government in Delhi offered rewards for dead cobras. Citizens began to breed them to earn more. When the program was canceled, the worthless cobras were released, worsening the infestation.
