A Virginia man illegally residing in the U.S. has been sentenced to 180 days in jail after being convicted of sexually assaulting nine high school girls by groping them in school hallways.

The defendant, who was attending high school as an adult, targeted minors at the school. The sentence amounts to roughly 20 days per victim.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) could potentially detain the individual upon release for deportation proceedings. Virginia does not currently have a statewide mandate requiring local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.
