Democrat Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick has officially resigned from Congress.

Cherfilus-McCormick faces federal charges related to allegedly misappropriating $5 million in FEMA funds. The Florida congresswoman has denied wrongdoing and suggested racial bias in the prosecution.

The resignation comes as she awaits trial on the fraud charges.
