Hey, Coinbase is really diving into some top-notch AI stuff, you know? They're testing out some agents inspired by co-founder Fred Ehrsam and former CTO Balaji Srinivasan. These guys are jumping into work chats to drop some insights for the team. This scoop came from CEO Brian Armstrong.
This agent Fred acts like a strategic right-hand man, helping to organize documents, ideas, and plans. On the other hand, agent Balaji is more about sparking creativity and bringing in fresh perspectives.
These two really helped a lot in the early days of the company, and Armstrong even called them 'legends' of Coinbase. An engineer there, Travis Bloom, mentioned he had a chat with agent Balaji about a new project, which really helped clarify the vision.
And it doesn't stop there: Armstrong said that moving forward, any employee can create their own agent. But he already warned that the next ones shouldn't be copies of real people.
Moreover, Coinbase has been heavily investing in these technologies. They use artificial intelligence to predict user movements and adjust the system on its own. In February, they launched the Agentic Wallets, allowing AI to hold funds, make trades, and process transactions without needing a human in the loop.
All this stuff connects with the so-called x402 protocol, which is still under development to enable automatic payments with crypto. The company really wants to lead this blend of artificial intelligence with blockchain, including an ecosystem called x402 Bazaar, focused on payments with stablecoins for these agents.
In the end, Armstrong even mentioned that he thinks soon there will be more AI agents than flesh-and-blood employees, can you believe it?$USDC ,$BNB
