The DeFi protocol Volo, operating on the Sui network, has officially confirmed a security incident. The attacker managed to siphon off around $3.5 million in assets including WBTC, XAUm, and USDC through a vulnerability in three specific vaults.

🛡️ Swift response and asset recovery

Despite the attack, the Volo team, along with the Sui Foundation and ecosystem partners, was able to quickly localize the issue:

  • Asset freeze: We managed to block around $500,000 related to the hacker attack.

  • Intercepting WBTC: The team prevented the withdrawal of 19.6 WBTC. These funds are no longer under the control of the hacker, and a mechanism for their return is currently being developed.

  • Threat isolation: The attack impacted only 3 specific Vaults. The remaining $28 million TVL is completely safe.

💰 Loss reimbursement

The main message for the community: users will not suffer.

We are ready to fully cover users' losses and do not plan to pass the financial burden onto our community,” stated Volo Protocol.

📈 Market context

This incident has become part of the alarming stats for 2026: as of mid-April, total losses in the DeFi sector from hacker attacks have already reached $795 million.

Currently, Volo is preparing a detailed Post-Mortem report and a recovery plan for the affected vaults. Stay tuned for official project updates.
