A pretty wild thing happened a few days ago.

At KTV, my friends egged me on to pick someone,

I didn't think much of it, just clicked on something randomly.

When she walked in, I was stunned.

It was the person I had a secret crush on for ages.

Back in high school, I was too shy to speak up,

just watched from a distance every day,

feeling like she was worlds away.

Turns out years later,

I ended up spending money to click on her.

That moment wasn't just a crush,

more like an indescribable absurdity.

Turns out a lot of things you think are 'super important',

in a different environment, under different rules,

they morph into a whole new relationship.

It was also at that moment I suddenly thought of today's blockchain games.

a lot of folks feel this way when they first enter the scene,

it's the same vibe.

You feel like this project is something special,

like you’re 'part of a future.'

But as you go along, things change.

Starting to calculate yields,

starting to figure out costs,

starting to think about when to cash out.

In the end—

you’re not just playing,

you’re just calculating.

Because of this, I’ve been feeling a bit different while watching @Pixels recently.

There aren’t any instant rewards you can just snag,

it’s a bit 'anti-human nature.'

Here, $PIXEL feels more like something you 'use up',

not something handed to you.

You gotta farm, create stuff, trade, and then consume,

it’s a whole process before you start seeing results.

The longer you stay, the deeper you get, and it becomes more apparent.

To put it bluntly, it’s not about issuing tokens,

It’s more about managing something—

When are you gonna exit?

It’s not about making you earn faster,

but about making you move slower.

Of course, this design isn’t without its issues.

The pace is slow,

it’s short-term dissatisfaction,

which isn't very friendly to those just looking for a quick buck.

and reality hits harder—

If most people still come in thinking they can just grab a quick win and walk away,

No matter how complicated the design is, in the end, it all goes back to the old playbook.

So now, looking at @Pixels is actually pretty straightforward.

it might not be the most profitable,

but it’s attempting something harder:

Make people stick around.

Thinking back to that day at KTV,

which actually resembles the current market quite a bit.

A lot of things haven’t really changed,

it’s just that your perspective on them has shifted.

You can see it as an experience,

or you can treat it like a trade.

The difference lies in—

how long you’re prepared to stay.
