Lviv region. Not the dark web. Not Hollywood.
A 19-year-old guy from Drohobych teamed up with two partners (21 and 22 years old) to launch a scheme that looks like a startup. But instead of a product, they're trading stolen accounts.
Target - Roblox. It's a platform where users don't just play games, but also create them, buy items, and hold virtual currency that has real-world value.
The mechanics are simple and cold.
Stolen cookies are access to the account without a password. Next up - special software that massively checks this data. From October 2025 to January 2026, they ran over 610,000 accounts.
Not dozens. Not thousands.
610 thousand.
They filtered out those with currency or rare items. During the raids, they found 357 files with already 'filtered' accounts - basically ready-to-go inventory.
Next up - selling. Russian resources. Payment via crypto wallet, especially in $BTC . No refunds and no chargebacks.
Preliminary estimates suggest the scheme could have generated around 10 million UAH.
The conclusion is also quite specific.
10 raids. Seized equipment, phones, data storage devices, bank cards, handwritten notes. Cash - over 2,500 euros and nearly 35,000 dollars.
Criminal charges - part 4 of article 185 (theft in especially large amounts) and part 5 of article 361 (unauthorized interference with the operation of systems).
And here's a reality check. A 44-year-old acquaintance had substances resembling cannabis found separately on the suspects. It's a personal story, but it illustrates the environment well.
It's hard to pretend this is 'about games'.
This is already an economy. Just without the rules.
And while some are holding $ETH in cold wallets, others are moving value to places where not everyone has noticed yet.
The question isn't even about the hackers.
Question - how many more of these 'hidden markets' are just lying under our noses right now.
