The giant of financial messaging manages communications for more than 11,000 banks in over 200 countries and territories. It now wants to check if blockchain technology can streamline and reduce costs for these processes.

According to reports, SWIFT, the backbone of global banking, has chosen Linea. A network based on Ethereum is testing the migration of its messaging system to blockchain technology. This pilot program involves more than a dozen major banks and could transform the way money is transferred around the world.

Major banks join the experiment

BNP Paribas and BNY Mellon are among the big names participating in this test. A source from one of the participating banks described it as "a significant technological transformation for the international interbank payments sector."
