Time is one of the greatest blessings that God has bestowed upon humanity in Islam. Time is the capital of a trader, and once it’s gone, it never comes back. Due to its immense importance, God swears in the Holy Quran by different times such as dawn, night, and the afternoon.

In light of the Quran and Hadith

God says in Surah Al-Asr, swearing by time:

"And the time! * Indeed, mankind is in loss, * Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience." (Surah Al-Asr: 1-3)

The Prophet (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of utilizing time by saying:

"There are two blessings in which many people are at a loss: health and free time." (Narrated by Bukhari)

The responsibility of youth in Islam

The youth stage is the bloom of life, a period when a person possesses energy, strength, and the will to give. On the Day of Judgment, Allah will ask the servant about five traits, two of which are related to time:

About his age, how did he spend it?

And about his youth, how did he use it?

Therefore, there’s no room in Islam for laziness or wasting time on what’s not beneficial.

Practical steps for time management for youth

In our current digital age, a lot of time is wasted on social media and gaming. To change this reality, one can follow the below:

Organizing the day around the five prayers: making the five prayers the central pivot of your daily schedule, starting after Fajr prayer brings blessings.

Setting goals: balancing worldly success (studies and work) with spiritual excellence (seeking beneficial knowledge and charitable work).

Limiting digital distractions: reducing screen time and using the internet as a tool for learning and development, not just for entertainment.

Conclusion

Time is life, and managing it wisely means managing life successfully. Let’s make sure to utilize every moment in obedience to Allah, building the future, and serving the community. $BNB
