Yields.
Incentives.
Narratives.
Attention.
And for a while, each of them does matter.
But then something subtle changes.
People stop staying for the same reasons they arrived.

Not what brings people in.
But what makes them not rush out the second something else appears.
That part is quieter.
Less exciting.
Harder to measure.

Maybe that’s why retention feels like an underrated idea.
It’s not flashy.
It doesn’t trend easily.
But it decides what actually lasts.
