A big and strange case in New York court:

An anonymous plaintiff named Noah has filed a lawsuit claiming ownership of 3.8 million Bitcoin (valued at around $285-293 billion) spread across 39,069 dormant addresses.

He’s basing it on New York’s "abandoned property law."

Legal notices were sent on the blockchain to inform the address holders.

A Bitcoin address dormant since March 2011 (over 14-15 years) actually moved this week.

Amount: 35.55 Bitcoin (currently valued at around $2.5 million).
Transfer: On June 2, 2026, the address sent 15 Bitcoin to a new address, keeping 20.55 Bitcoin.

This mentioned address is one of the names on the defendant list, and its movement is seen as a response to the lawsuit, proving that the coins are not abandoned and that the owner still controls them.

There are also similar movements from other old addresses during this same period.

The case is still ongoing, and the court has temporarily halted some proceedings pending a session in July.

This incident highlights the importance of old addresses and the impact of such bold lawsuits on the Bitcoin market.
