The Core team of Pi Network has launched the second test coin for the Launchpad, named SLICE, this past Friday. This launch comes as the main coin PI continues to face historically low prices after experiencing heavy sell-offs across the market recently.

This new testing phase will continue for another two weeks, aiming to boost community engagement within the Pi ecosystem.

What does the SLICE Test Token offer to the Pi Launchpad?

Pi Launchpad is an incubator for projects developed within the Pi Network ecosystem, allowing users to test new tokens before they hit the Mainnet. After the first test token was launched on Pi Day 2026 (March 14), the team gathered feedback from nearly 480,000 Pioneers.

This valuable suggestion has simplified the participation process, tweaking the Launchpad mechanics and elevating the overall user experience. Therefore, the team is opening up testing for the second token, SLICE, which will remain available for experimentation until Pi2Day on June 28.

Follow us on X for the latest updates as they happen.

Pioneers wishing to participate need to open the Pi Browser and enter the Pi Launchpad to study information about the SLICE project. Then they can select the amount of Test-Pi to commit, confirm their participation, and use the Slice of Pi app.

The team confirms that SLICE is a testnet asset only and, importantly, it will never enter the mainnet as its sole purpose is to help users learn the mechanics of the new token in the ecosystem before the actual token launches in the future.

The second test token 'SLICE' is now available for experimentation on the Testnet to evaluate whether the updates will achieve the intended goals and to give Pioneers another chance to learn the mechanics of the new token in this ecosystem. Please note that SLICE is a Testnet token only and will never enter the Mainnet, as stated by one user on X.

Why is the price of PI Coin still facing heavy pressure?

Despite the continuous product updates, the PI token is still confronting significant price pressure, as the stagnant crypto market over the past few weeks has led to the price of PI plummeting to a new low below USD 0.12 on June 6.

Since then, PI has recovered about 7% from that low, according to BeInCrypto Markets data. However, the macro outlook remains painful, as the token continues to trade 95.7% below its all-time high from late February 2025.

Some network indicators and the future token unlock schedule suggest that the worst may be over for PI. Additionally, the RSI remains in deeply oversold territory, which is often a leading signal for reversals in major altcoin charts.

Currently, there is no clear breakout effort. Investors will closely monitor how PI reacts in the coming weeks, especially during Pi2Day, which has previously drawn significant interest and trading volume from the entire Pi Network community.
