After leaving Intel, Gelsinger joined the startup xLight as CEO, which is working on a historic breakthrough in EUV lithography (extreme ultraviolet).
What's new?
- A new EUV light source that is 50% cheaper and more efficient
- Reduces power consumption and speeds up the production of advanced chips
- Allows for easier transition to 1 nanometer and below
- The first U.S. government deal of this size: $150 million from the CHIPS Act (December 2025)
