What's this young guy up to? Seems a bit different, doesn't it?

I saw this young guy working as a bus helper this morning. He's moving fast, but there's no hustle, no arguing over fares. At first, it seemed normal. But after a while, I noticed something extraordinary.

One passenger said, "I’m a student."

The young man smirked and said, "Can I pay for the flowers today?"

The passenger didn't take the fare for the flowers. Instead, he put his hand on his head and said,

"Focus on your studies, brother. Education is really important."

Another student had a similar attitude. He said,

"You have to become a big person. You need to bring pride to your parents. Focus on your studies and don’t get discouraged in any subject."

He said to a third student,

"I pray you become a very good person. Study far and wide."

It's surprising to think—here's a bus helper, yet he shows such respect and sincerity towards the students!

Not just the students, he was also addressing the elderly passengers in the bus as ‘uncle’ or ‘auntie’. He was telling someone to stand near the fan, fixing it for them. And then, when he saw an elderly passenger getting on the bus, he said,

"Uncle, you can take this bus too. But it’ll be uncomfortable for you. Get on the back vehicle; there's a free seat there."

In a place where often the main goal is just to pick up passengers, this young man gives advice considering people's age, comfort, and needs.

Later, I got a chance to talk to him. I asked why he was so sincere?

He said calmly,

"I've been cheated many times. I know the pain of being cheated. So I don’t want to cheat anyone. If I can, I want to help. I have three daughters. I want them to be very educated—this is my wish."

A person is defined not by their profession but by their thoughts, behavior, and humanity. This young man named Russell might seem like an ordinary bus helper in the eyes of society, but his values could be exemplary for many so-called educated people.

Salute to that person, who teaches others to dream even in the midst of their own struggles.
