The story of Karl Bushby is one of the most ambitious endurance journeys anyone has attempted. In 1998, he set out from Punta Arenas, Chile, driven by a simple bet: to walk back to England without using any form of transportation. What began as a challenge turned into a 27-year quest known as the Goliath Expedition, a continuous route around the planet powered solely by his steps.
He crossed the Darién Gap, one of the most unforgiving jungles in the world that very few traverse on foot, and later managed to walk on the shifting ice of the Bering Strait, one of the most iconic achievements of his journey.
Along the way, he faced legal issues in Russia, including a period of detention related to his visa. Even with delays, obstacles, and extreme environments, he continues to move toward his goal.
