Bitcoin Liquidity Is Rapidly Concentrating in Institutional Hands
Glassnode data, cited by ChainCatcher, shows a strong concentration of Bitcoin among major institutions. Public companies hold nearly 1.07M BTC, governments control about 620K BTC, U.S. spot ETFs account for roughly 1.31M BTC, and exchanges hold the largest share at around 2.94M BTC.
Together, these entities control approximately 5.94M BTC, equal to 29.8% of Bitcoin’s circulating supply—highlighting the growing dominance of institutions and custodians in Bitcoin liquidity.
