THORChain just made a comeback after being "clinically dead" for over a month due to a $10.7 million exploit. For a cross-chain protocol, halting the entire network for that long was a painful but necessary decision.

The non-atomic swap vulnerability has been patched, vaults have been relocated, and security upgrades have been deployed. The market reacted positively right away as trading volume bounced back quickly within the first 24 hours. However, the $10.7 million is still unrecovered — the project has its own compensation program.

What I'm more concerned about is the trust factor. Can a protocol that was exploited so deeply fully recover? Technically, they did it right: stress testing, launching a small pool first, and gradually scaling up. Psychologically, DeFi is inherently high-risk, and this lesson reminds us once again to never put all our eggs in one liquidity basket no matter how great the idea is.

THORChain remains a crucial cross-chain solution, but assess your risk tolerance before diving back in.
