January 4th is a historically significant day for Myanmar.

The day that Myanmar gained independence from colonial rule in 1948 is referred to as "Myanmar Independence Day" and is also a commemorative day that every citizen should take pride in.

However, looking back at the current situation in Myanmar, it raises questions about the meaning of the word 'freedom.' Due to the current political conditions, the voices of the people are being silenced, and fundamental human rights, freedoms of speech, and the right to choose are also facing difficulties.

Freedom means not only liberation from the control of another country but also the individual's right to decide over their own life, the right to live without fear, and the right to speak out against injustice. Today, for the majority of the people in Myanmar, those freedoms still seem like a dream.

Nevertheless, throughout history, the people of Myanmar have not given up hope amidst difficulties. They have continued to stand up in various ways without remaining silent against injustice. This can also be said to be the foundational strength of freedom.

Therefore, today, January 4th, should be remembered as a day that not only commemorates the past's freedom but also expresses the desire for a truly free Myanmar to emerge in the future.

No matter how difficult the situation may be.

I want to ensure that the meaning of freedom is not forgotten. As long as that meaning does not disappear, the dreams of the Myanmar people for freedom will one day undoubtedly come true.

We honor and celebrate Myanmar's Day of Freedom.
