Is trading during the holiday enjoyable?

While others travel during their holidays to relax, we Crypto enthusiasts can't seem to take our minds off the charts even when we are on a trip. But be careful... trading during holidays can be fun, but it really feels like playing with fire.


On holidays, big institutions close their books and take a break. Market makers also return home. So, there aren’t many people left in the market. When there are few people, what happens is... if a whale feels sleepy and accidentally presses the wrong button, the big market can jump around suddenly. This is called thinner liquidity. Normally, the market that would move upon a bomb explosion can experience a sudden drop or shoot up to the sky with just a small push during this time.


We can just say 'It's a holiday... we'll take a break' and turn off our phones. However, the exchange's liquidation engine says 'There are no holidays.' While you are swimming in the pool, your position can get liquidated and you could end up in the water. When you have no internet on your phone, the market suddenly pulling is a common phenomenon in crypto.


A good trader knows 'when to rest.' Going all in on a holiday thinking of 'catching the move' is like trying to enjoy a trip while begging for donations, which is not the case. The main thing is survival. Not breaking your capital during a holiday is more important than making a profit in January. Opportunities are like cars at a gate; if one passes, another will come.


However, I will also give a remedy for those who say 'I can't eat if I don't trade.'

Reduce leverage - don't go for 100x or anything. You might end up choking while eating.


Make sure to set a stop-loss - trading without an SL is like climbing a mountain in a car without brakes.


Only use limit orders - don’t forcefully buy with market orders. With fewer people in the market, the price you want to buy at can skyrocket.


Sometimes just doing nothing is the best work. Convert to stablecoin, or just leave it as is in spot and give time to your family. Even professionals can do nothing on their days off. Don't think of it as something to be ashamed of. When your portfolio is green, your mind is also refreshed.
