From my personal perspective, 2026 marks a very clear turning point for crypto: the world no longer has 'guidance' but is moving into the phase of enforcing the rules. The GENIUS Act in the US tightens stablecoins, MiCA in Europe requires exchanges to have licenses, and OECD's CARF makes the tax narrative no longer a gray area. Crypto officially enters the institutional playing field.

In this context, Binance is a prime example of a survivor by radically changing. After the shock of 2023 – a $4.3 billion fine, withdrawing from the US due to AML violations – Binance understands that growth through 'speed and gray areas' is no longer an option. By 2026, when CZ is no longer directly in charge, the exchange shifts to a compliance-focused strategy: enhancing KYC/AML, monitoring transactions, and working directly with regulators.

Specific steps show that Binance is not just going through the motions. Obtaining a MiCA license in Greece to maintain its EU presence, restructuring ownership to pave the way back to the US, prioritizing regulated stablecoins, while also enhancing security standards with 2FA and cold storage for most assets. Clearly, Binance is trading some 'freedom' for legitimacy and long-term viability.

This brings significant changes to the market. Crypto is gradually moving away from retail speculation to welcome institutional cash flow. Stablecoins are growing rapidly, becoming a payment infrastructure rather than just a speculative tool. DeFi is also forced to mature, linked to real assets and real cash flow, rather than just farming and narratives.

Of course, regulation is not always smooth. Shocks like the previous delisting of BUSD show that laws can cause short-term volatility and market restructuring. But in the long run, it reduces crypto crime, increases trust, and opens the door for large capital.

In summary, Binance is not just 'dodging the law' to survive, but is proactively shaping a regulated crypto era. If this trend continues, by 2030, crypto will be less wild, but in return, more sustainable – and Binance is positioning itself at the center of that shift.
