لیکن وہ بچہ روزانہ اسرائیلی فوجیوں کے خلاف پتھراؤ کرنے جاتا۔ صرف یہی نہیں، بلکہ ٹینک کے سامنے کھڑا ہوکر رقص کرتا اور نعرہ لگاتا:
"لو کسروا عظامي مش زاحف، لو هدوا البيت مش خايف!"
(اگر وہ میری ہڈیاں توڑ بھی دیں، میں پیچھے نہیں ہٹوں گا… اگر میرا گھر گرا بھی دیں، مجھے خوف نہیں ہوگا!)
اس کا کزن شادِی شہید ہوگیا تو گھر والوں نے مزید ڈر کے مارے اسے قید کر لیا۔ مگر وہ پانی کی پائپ لائن سے رینگ کر نکلتا اور پھر پتھر مارنے پہنچ جاتا۔ کئی بار اُس کی ماں لڑائی کے بیچوں بیچ جا کر اسے واپس لے آتی۔
ایک دن اُس نے خواب دیکھا کہ شہید شادِی کہہ رہا ہے: “آؤ، میرا بدلہ لو۔”
اسی دن ماں نے بھی خواب میں شادِی کو دیکھا جو کہہ رہا تھا: “اسے میرے پاس آنے دو۔”
ماں کو یقین ہوگیا کہ یہ ربانی پیغام ہے، اور اس کا بیٹا اب شہید ہوگا۔
ایک فرانسیسی فوٹوگرافر نے اُس کی ایک مشہور تصویر بنائی، جس میں وہ پیٹھ کے بل کھڑا ہوکر ایک میرکاوا ٹینک پر پتھر پھینک رہا ہے۔ یہ تصویر دنیا بھر میں وائرل ہوگئی۔
