What does it mean?

It’s a number from 0 to 100 that shows whether the market is dominated more by fear or greed. It’s automatically calculated from 6 factors (volatility, trading volume, social media, BTC dominance, Google Trends and surveys).

How to read it?

  1. 0–24 → Extreme Fear

  2. 25–49 → Fear

  3. 50 → Neutral

  4. 51–74 → Greed

  5. 75–100 → Extreme Greed

How to use it?

It’s a contrarian indicator – do the opposite of what the crowd is doing:

  • When it shows Fear (or Extreme Fear): the market is too scared → people are selling out of fear → often a good opportunity to buy (the market is undervalued).

  • When it’s in the middle (around 50): the market is balanced, nothing dramatic – a good time for calm holding or waiting.

  • When it shows Greed (or Extreme Greed): the market is too optimistic → people are buying out of greed → often a signal for caution or selling (the market may correct soon).

Simple rule:

Fear = opportunity, Greed = warning.
