A lot of people talk about AI as if progress automatically benefits everyone.
I'm not sure it works that way.
A tool can exist.
A model can exist.
An entire network can exist.
None of that guarantees people can actually use it.
That's what caught my attention about OpenGradient.
Not the race for bigger models.
The question of how widely intelligence can spread once it's created.
History is full of technologies that existed long before they became useful at scale.
The breakthrough wasn't always the invention itself.
Sometimes it was access.
As AI becomes more important in education, research, and everyday work, that distinction feels harder to ignore.
Technology creates possibilities.
How many people can reach those possibilities is a different question entirely.
