The European Central Bank has proposed tightening supervision of the crypto sector and giving more authority to the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).
⚠️ Why is this step being considered?
Recently, some crypto companies have been choosing to obtain licenses in the EU country with the weakest regulation, and then using that license to operate across the entire EU. This has created a “regulatory loophole.”
